From Field to Table: A Day with Bimi® Baby Broccoli

What happens when you bring together food lovers, creators, growers, a James Beard Award-winning chef, and a whole lot of Bimi® Baby Broccoli?

A pretty stemsational day in the field.

This September, we invited a group of guests to Cal-Organic Farms® in Tehachapi, California, for an immersive Bimi® field-to-table experience celebrating where our food comes from, the people who grow it, and all the delicious possibilities that happen along the way.

And yes, we got our hands a little dirty.

Where Bimi® Begins

The day started right where Bimi® does: in the field.

Guests walked through rows of Bimi® Baby Broccoli, met the people behind the harvest, and had the chance to pick Bimi® themselves while learning more about how it’s grown.

It was also an opportunity to get to know the story behind the brand. Bimi® is the original baby broccoli, grown from a proprietary seed classically bred from broccoli and Chinese kale to deliver its signature long stems, delicate florets, and naturally sweet flavor.

From seed to harvest, there’s a lot that goes into every stem.

From Field to Flavor

Of course, we couldn’t spend a day surrounded by Bimi® without eating plenty of it.

Bimi® Brand Ambassador and James Beard Award-winning Chef Thai Dang joined us in the field for a live cooking demonstration, showing guests just how versatile Bimi® can be.

One of the day’s biggest hits? Chef Thai’s Blistered Bimi® Baby Broccoli with Zesty Nam Jim Aioli.

Charred Bimi® meets a creamy, bright, spicy aioli inspired by the flavors of Thailand. Simple enough to make at home, but definitely worthy of a chef.

From the Field to the Farm Table

After a morning in the fields, guests gathered inside the barn for a beautiful farm-to-table lunch.

Before everyone took their seats, Chef Thai returned for another demonstration, this time preparing his fresh and colorful Bimi® Baby Broccoli Salad with Guava, Tamarind, Vietnamese Herbs & Fried Shallots.

Sweet guava, tangy tamarind, fresh herbs, crispy shallots, and Bimi® come together for a dish that’s anything but ordinary.

Then it was time to gather around the table.

The barn was transformed for the occasion, with beautiful floral arrangements incorporating Bimi® itself alongside the flowers, bringing a little bit of the field right to the table.

Over lunch, guests had a chance to slow down, connect, and enjoy a meal just steps from where Bimi® was growing outside.

Good food. Good company. And a pretty unbeatable setting.

Food Through a Different Lens

Food tells stories long before it reaches our plates.

As proud global sponsor of the World Food Photography Awards, Bimi® also brought a curated photography gallery into the experience, showcasing images that celebrate food, farming, culture, and the moments that bring us together.

Against the backdrop of a working farm, the photographs felt especially at home, offering another reminder that behind every meal is a story worth telling.

One Last Surprise…

We couldn’t send everyone home without one more special guest.

Our very own Bimi® mascot made an appearance to close out the day, bringing plenty of personality, laughs, and, naturally, a few photo ops.

Because apparently even baby broccoli knows how to work a camera.

Bringing Bimi® to Life

There’s something different about seeing where your food actually comes from.

Walking the fields. Meeting the growers. Harvesting it yourself. Watching Chef Thai turn it into something delicious. Gathering around a beautiful farm table. And sharing the experience with people who love food as much as we do.

That’s what this day was really about: bringing the Bimi® story to life from field to table.
